Welcome to my new Substack newsletter. It has been a long time since many of you signed up to The List, and my new weekly newsletter For The Curious, has been in my head for a while, whilst I decided on the best platform to share musings, learnings, creative best practices, and insights with you. I am delighted to be here and look forward to sharing this creative journey with you.

As a lover of storytelling, words and images, I am excited to be able to communicate and share with you in a longer form way, as an extension to my instagram feed. After having worked in interiors and many related fields for over 20 years, since leaving the corporate world, I am looking forward to sharing many of the things I have learnt, and continue to learn. Things that have helped me pivot since starting my own company; along with insights, learnings and creative direction, that I hope will inspire you too.
Mistakes, wrong moves and failures are all part of the journey when you work for yourself, and I hope that in some way that advice about interiors, styling and design; combined with insights from the publishing world (books and magazines); and the realities of setting up my own creative business, may also help you too.
Working for myself for the past two decades, the one thing that has consistently driven my own personal sense of creativity, is a desire to remain curious in all aspects of my life. Without curiosity, creativity vanishes and becomes stagnant. Embracing curiosity pushes us all forward, and encourages ideas to rise up from the seemingly obscure. Opening these doors in our minds takes us on new creative journeys, and is a gift that we can readily give to ourselves.
Imagine if we were all just 5% more curious. The impact it would have on various aspects of our lives could be significant, maybe even life changing. Curious is a word that I come back to time and time again, so seems apt for the name of this newsletter. I am curious to always dig deeper, to question, to listen and observe, to not accept the status quo, to push, to explore, to discover new things, to learn from others, to challenge and to test myself.
It has always been so – and probably explains why I am passionate about people, places, things, and ideas. Curiosity pushes boundaries, opens minds, develops thinking, encourages change, helps you to trust your own intuition, invites inclusion, respects sharing and celebrates new ways and new successes for oneself and others.
However, I also understand that for many, making decisions and working out what route to follow, can be tricky. I am looking forward to sharing ideas and learnings each week, and hope they will inspire you to follow your heart and believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
My sense of curiosity is fuelled by a belief that together and with knowledge, we are better. Together we are more powerful. Together we bring more ideas to life. Together we seek out the good things. Together we find the joy in what is, and what could be.
For some curiosity ticks quietly in the background, for others it screams from every direction – our minds like sponges waiting to find, absorb, reimagine, and create new ideas from what we see, experience and feel. It has an energy that is infectious, a freedom that is limitless, an intensity that can become all consuming, yet inspire us to keep pivoting, and to bring to life the future we imagine.
It feels slightly out of my comfort zone to join a paid for platform that is subscriber based, but for less than two cups of coffee a month you have the chance to access a lot of insider knowledge and to have access to myself. I have thought long and hard about how to share with you and this feels like an exciting, real, and financially viable way to go. So I hope if you are curious to see behind-the-scenes and to get access to many years of insights, that you may come along on this journey with me.
Ask yourself what you could do with a 5% increase in your own curiosity and I say your choices are limitless.
I look forward to becoming more curious with you on this platform. Here’s to a great 2024, to sharing knowledge, and encouraging us all together to push our potential.
